I'm new in here and thought I'd say hello and ask for a little help :P
I started playing Creatures last June, Creatures Adventures to be exact.
Got introduced to it through Petz, and yes I know it's kinda pathetic..
I got bored with it pretty quickly (but it's cute!!). Then last month I got
Creatures 3, it's totally amazing. So addictive, I was away from home for 4
days and started missing my little Norns. =)
Anyway. In Creatures 3 all of my Man-o-war eggs never hatch. :/ I re-installed
it because it screwed up a few days ago and I got all the Rainbow Sharklings
which had also mysteriously disappeared from the Aquarium, but they're okay
now. Does anyone know what can be done to the Man-o-war eggs?
What about dragonflies, they're rather tricky too! All of my Stickletrouts die
because the dragonflies never really lay eggs in the pond. They are a little more
active in the Jungle terrarium but when I take them to the Norn terrarium nothing
happens. Bleh. Do you have to watch them 24/7 without switching terrariums? Or
does it have something to do with the weather, should I adjust the settings? The
last time I did that a quarter of the animals died so yeah..
Then photography.. How do you get the pictures of your Norns out of the game?
There is probably a folder for that, but I can't find it :/ Or are the pictures
in a different format than .jpg or .bmp or something like that ?
Oh yeah, and a question to those who've played Creatures Adventures.. Do you know
if it's compatible with Windows XP? I had it on my dad's computer but I don't remember
if he had Windows 98 or XP when I used to play it.. Now when I tried to install it
on my own computer, it installs it but when it's supposed to be finished suddenly
it says "Bad Windows" or something like that. Wth is that?
Heh. Sorry for the lengthy post. Thanks to any of those who bothered to read and
those who will bother to help =)

sooo. i'm new to this community, but have been playing creatures for... ever.
today i randomly had the urge to start up DS again, after not having it since, like, december of 2003.
but i noticed that i didn't have all of the norn egg selections because i hadn't reinstalled creatures three after my computer crashed a while ago.
so, god hates me and decides not to allow my C3 cd to work.
when i click "install" it says there's an error, or something.
any ideas on what i can do?
EDIT: i also ordered the norn packs, of all the add-on norns, but never downloaded them after i paid, or whatever i was supposed to do. it was somewhere around $60. is there anyway i can get them? like, can someone send them to me?

By pirating of course! I would LOVE to know if any of you guys have the breeds packs for creatures 3 or where I could download them without actually paying. I have no idea how many there are, but I plan to locate them all. any help would be muchly appreciated.

Okay, I've been having a problem with C2 lately. It's been more frustrating than usual, lately, because I've really been itching for some C2 norn fun. Basically, when I try to run the game, the screen goes black, there's an error noise, and it just goes back to my desktop like nothing happened. And then it acts like it's trying to run the game, and I get to see the hatchery briefly before it disappears again.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but so far it hasn't done me an inch of good. I also tried Windows XP's Program Compatibility Wizard, but that didn't do any bit of good, either.
EDIT: Never mind. Problem solved. ^_^;
Any ideas as to how I might fix this?

Well, earlier today I downloaded the C1 Genetics Kit. Now I'm downloading the ones for C2 and C3. So... except some genetically engineered content from me shortly.
I know I've been a bad, bad moderator... But stick with me, people, I'm still here. I truly plan on being more active here! :D

Anyone know where I might be able to find a good (free) gene editor for C1 and/or C3 up for download? All the older ones I knew of seem to have evaporated from the face of the internet and I miss gene-tinkering with my creatures. XD;

I used to be big into Creatures a while back, when I first bought it. After a while, I lost interest. I only have the first one.. but I want the others. Anyone know a way to *ahem* get it.. er.. without buying? lol
If not, I'll still stick with this one. I want to just have fun breeding them together.

1:39PM - Wolfling Runs
I'm overly tempted to run a C2 Wolfling Run.
If not C2 then C1.. depends what the masses want ;)

1:25AM - Creatures on WindowsXP
Click here if you have a new computer, or have upgraded your computer to WindowsXP and still want to play Creatures.
It worked for me and I'm so happy now, I missed my norns! ;.;

11:43AM - Selective Norn Breeding
I've spent most of today selectively breeding imported Ron norns and Golden Desert norns to get Golden Fox norns (basically, Ron norns with long tails)
I so need a life *giggles*

Okay, it's official. This place is now a real community instead of just my own personal little norn breeding journal.
Have fun. ;D

I've an idea...
Seeing as how I'm so horrendous about posting about my own Creatures exploits, I was wondering if I should make it so any member of the community can post? Y'know, make it more of a Creatures community instead of my own personal norn-breeding journal?
If anyone's interested, please say so. I won't do it unless people will actually, y'know, post (unlike me).
Personally, I think it would be fun. I haven't really seen many Creature communities. At least as far as LJ's concerned.

My wolfling run was cut very short. I don't know if it was a plague or what, but the first generation (the downloaded one) dropped like flies.
The males have completely died out, leaving our two survivors: Aerith and Lazuli.
I'll get them up for download next site update.

Disregard the edit in my last entry.
Apparently the fickleness that is my computer decided it wants to work after all.
Things shall go according to plan.
An update? *gasp*
My Creature-playing status has been on a spontaneous and irritating hiatus, but no longer!
I'm gonna start a wolfling run with some Akamai Canny norns tonight and see how they do. I've never messed with them before, but they're supposedly quite smarter than the average norn.
Scratch that, my computer is utter crap and Creatures 2 refuses to function.

Yes, I know. Haven't posted those C2 norns on my website like I promised I would. And I'm not going to. You know why? Because my mom's laptop, which they were on, died. Thus annihilating every single norn I had. And believe me, there were a lot.
Even so, I guess that's no excuse for never posting in here at all, huh? It's just I had so many creatures running about that it was hard to take decent breeding notes. They were going at it like rabid bunnies, though, and the record breeder was Anita, who during her entire lifespan gave birth to thirty babies.
And all of them are gone. *sigh*
That's what I get for trusting a stupid, half-dead laptop to begin wtih, I guess.

Well, I ditched that Deathmatch Creatures idea pretty fast. I just don't have it in me to knowingly breed killer creatures. ^_^;
I've been playing Creatures 2 more than Creatures 3, recently. So if you're interested in downloading some multi-colored C2 norns, keep an eye on the Creatures section of my website. I plan on uploading some pretty norns sometime soon.
I'd give some details on how my breeding's going, but it's so hard to keep up with those norns!
I downloaded breedable ettin and grendel genomes and a COB that makes the ettin and grendel egg layer lay two eggs (male and female) of each species. So hopefully I'll have a cute bunch of ettins and grendels running around Albia soon enough.
Not too long ago I downloaded gazillions of pretty-colored norns from all over the internet. I bred them like crazy and now I've got all their children running around the world. Well, not all of the children (there's too many to do that...).
Anyway, I'll get some uploaded soon enough. Along with some ettins and grendels if they breed as much as I hope they will.
While my horde of colored norns wander around the incubator area, Grenny and Gren haven't left the grendel birthing area. They seem content to just sit there and alternately smack and smooch each other. Adorable, in a Grendel-y kinda way. ^_^

Yes, yes. I'm an awful, awful person for neglecting this journal. Please forgive me, all my little creatures. *huggles*
I was thinking of doing a Creatures Match-esque type of thing in Creatures 3. Make a world where the ship's a living deathtrap and evil creatures abound. Mainly because I'm curious as to who'd survive.
Almost like a wolfling run, only... more violent.
If I end up doing it, I'll give it a little page on my website. But I don't know. I can be sadistic, but I don't know if I can be sadistic enough to let my creatures pummel each other into bloody pulps.
Anyway, it's just an idea. Nothing for sure, yet.
On another note... Does anyone know a good place to download some mutated creatures? I recall getting some norns whose colors mutated like mad over generations, but I can't remember what site they were on. Anyone know?
Also, I plan on adding more norns for download over at The Pocket Dimension. So far there's only a few C1 norns there.
That's all for now, folks.

Hatched the six eggs that were waiting and exported them all. Malys, daughter of Dawn and Osiris; Alma, daughter of Asona and Dusty; Claire, daughter of Asona and Brian; Felicia, daughter of Asona and Dusty; Alice, daughter of Citrus and Brian; and Alexander, son of Dawn and Osiris.
Wow, only one boy amongst them. O_o
